About Us
Campbell Aero Classics N.Z. Limited is owned and operated by Ivan and Sandy Campbell. The business is located at 'Loburn Abbey', a 46 acre rural private airfield/hangar facility/home in Loburn, North Canterbury, New Zealand (45 mins from Christchurch International Airport). The area's micro-climate offers a spectacular playground for flying with its stunning snow-laden mountain ranges, close proximity to beaches, coastal areas and large areas of well-kept farmland.
A custom built hangar facility complements the property and is the workspace where the Campbell helmets are created. The hangar is home to some special looking replica aircraft including a 90% Mk26b Supermarine Spitfire, a 75% Titan T51 Mustang and an 80% FFP Tiger Moth.
Combining 'kiwi' ingenuity and today's sophisticated technology, Ivan invented and developed this bespoke hard shell flying helmet for aviators flying warbird, vintage, classic, open cockpit and many other sport and recreational aircraft. The helmet gives the pilot a totally authentic look while discreetly utilising today's leading technology, at the same time providing head protection, comfort and quality communication.
The helmet made its debut at the Warbirds Over Wanaka 2000 Airshow. A number of the airshow pilots flying the very noisy Polikarpovs were kitted out in time for the show and their response was overwhelmingly favourable.
Since then, the helmets continue to meet a unique market niche. These made-to-measure bespoke, handcrafted, personalised helmets have become the standard for aviators worldwide, with clients in over 36 countries in the world. Our clientelle include high profile celebrities, well known and highly accomplished airshow pilots and aviators of all ages and flying abilities. There continues to be a growing list of aviators who attribute the Campbell helmet to saving their lives and/or preventing serious head injury.
We invite you to join our family of aviators who are enjoying the benefits and experience of a Campbell Aero Classics Hard Shell Leather Flying Helmet.
